What was the first song you learnt?

I'm pretty sure it was Radiohead "Fake Plastic Trees". I had just come home from my first guitar lesson and my sister asked what I learnt. I told her I learnt the A chord and a few strumming patterns. She said "Well, I can teach you a cool Radiohead song that's based around the A chord". She only knew how to play a couple of songs, but that happened to be one that would work with my newfound A chord skills.

What’s your favourite memory of your early musical life?

Singing along to Carpenters songs in the car with my family. That, or sitting in the window singing lines like "Bet they collect things like ashtrays and art...", imagining myself to be little orphan Annie. (Both age 4)

What made you want to play music in the first place?

Nirvana, and the desire to spend more time with/impress a guy I had a crush on who played guitar.

How old were you when you started playing?

14

Who were your music heroes/idols back then? Who are they now?

Back then: Nirvana, Green Day, Presidents of the USA, Tracy Bonham ("Mother Mother"- lol), Karen Carpenter.

Now: Karen Carpenter, Queen, Bob Dylan, Stephin Merritt, Loretta Lynn, The Louvin Bros.

What was the name of your first band?

Antidisestablishmentarianism
