What was the first song you learnt? Louise - It was the Bonnie Raitt version that my sister loved and used to sing all of the time. Louise is a song about a sex worker who overdoses and then they don't know where to send the body after she dies. I sang it as an 8 year old at my Dad's 50th Birthday party.
What’s your favourite memory of your early musical life? Singing with my big sister all of the time, even while she was showering. I also used to love dancing up a storm to my brothers and sisters band at every birthday party, wedding, baptism, and dinner dance that ever there was.
What made you want to play music in the first place? The undeniable force of love, joy and connection that it creates.
How old were you when you started playing? I started learning piano at 5 and I started singing at 3 months of age!!!!
Who were your music heroes/idols back then? Who are they now? My big sister Carmen and then through her Joan Armatrading, Bonnie Raitt and Aretha Franklin, My big brothers and through them Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley… now those three are still up there and are joined by Joan as Policewoman, Gillian Welch… oh sooooo many!!!!
